Clerk Clark's 2023 Legislative Priorities

Removing outdated racial covenants and other discriminatory language from property deeds and official documents. Certain deeds still include outdated, unenforceable covenants with explicit discriminatory language. Clerk Clark seeks to have this language permanently removed, healing scars from segregation in the past.  Read more>>

Automatically restoring voting rights for convicted felons upon the completion of their time in prison. Currently, convicted felons in New Mexico do not have right to vote until the full completion of their sentence, even after being released from prison.

Introducing even more permanent drop boxes and securing consistent elections operations and personnel funding for County Clerk's Offices and the Secretary of State's office. Consistent funding will allow these offices to effectively run elections without any financial insecurity.

Introduce more protections for poll workers against threats, and clarify the legal language surrounding the open/concealed carry of weapons in polling sites. The current laws lack sufficient language about the rights poll workers have against threats and lack clarifying language on voter's rights to carry legal weapons into polling sites.
