Case#: 0217017445, Aggravated DUI, Improper Equipment, 11/21/17

Incident Location: Southbound US 84/285, Mile post 177

Person Arrested: Ricardo A. Vargas, 43 year old male subject

On the aforementioned date, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the above listed male subject.  Upon conducting a DUI investigation the male subject was found to be intoxicated while operating a motor vehicle.  Upon completion of standard field sobriety testing, the male subject was placed under arrest and his vehicle was seized pursuant to Santa Fe County's vehicle seizure ordinance.  The male subject was taken to the adult detention center where he was charged and booked without incident.

Suspect: J. Martinez age 26 Chimayo

Location: SF CNTY RD 88/ La Puebla Area

During a traffic stop, it found that suspect had two warrants.  original charges of shoplifting (Santa Fe Municipal) and speeding (Rio Arriba County Magistrate).  Suspect was booked into Santa Fe ADC.

Location: Camino Justicia (Santa Fe County Jail)

Suspect/Arrested: B. Herrera 35yrs Old

Suspect was found with several orange strips believed to be "Suboxone".  Suspect was rebooked on these additional charges.  This investigation is on going.

Suspect was served with a warrant while incarcerated at the Santa Fe County ADC. Original charge Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

021701 7407 / Death Investigation / 11-20-17

Location: Straight Street (Waldo Canyon)

Victim: 63 Year Old Male

Deputies responded to the listed area in reference to a male not conscious not breathing.  Upon arrival medics were attempting life saving measures which were unsuccessful.  No signs of foul play were observed at the scene.

Victim advised unknown suspect(s) stole a check from his residence and then cashed it at a Chase Bank.  Case is under investigation.

Victim advised on November 17, unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and stole the listed items.  It was later determined the suspect(s) used the victim's debit card for unauthorized purchases.  Case is under investigation.

Case #0217017358, Driving While License Revoked

Location: US Highway 84/285 and Old Las Vegas Highway, Santa Fe, NM

Vehicle: 2001 red Mitsubishi Mirage

Suspect: Jason Lopez, 44, Alcalde, NM

Charges: Driving While License Revoked, Tail Lamps Required

On Saturday, November 18, 2017 at approximately 11:51pm, Deputy observed the vehicle traveling on the roadway with tail lamps not functioning. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, the suspect. Suspect was run through N.C.I.C. and the New Mexico MVD return showed that the driver had a revoked driver's license with the 66-8-122G arrest clause attached. Suspect was placed under arrest, transported and booked into the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Facility without incident. Vehicle was seized under the Santa Fe County Ordinance 2006-5 amended 2013-5 and taken to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office Seizure lot.

Victim advised his vehicle was broken into on Nov 17, 2017 between the hours of 11:15 and 1:15 pm.  Victim reported the listed items stolen from his vehicle.  Case is under investigation.

On 11-18-17 the victim reported someone charged $104.00 to her credit card through an amazon account.
